Our Products

BM Engineering hold a large variety of process valves at our Glasgow warehouse and are able to assemble, test and dispatch actuated packages on same-day basis. Valves which are stocked include ball, butterfly, knife-gate, globe, non-return, angle seat and solenoid valves, as well as a range of hygienic valves, filters and sight glasses.

With BM Engineering holding such a variety of different valves we have gathered more information on each type of product for you to read below:

Ball Valves

A ball valve is one of the most effective shut-off valves available. They provide leak-proof service, can open and close quickly and allow flow in either direction – unlike a gate or globe valve. BME stock a wide range of ball valves, from ¼" to 6" at our works in Bishopbriggs.

Butterfly Valves

BM Engineering Supplies provides a wide range of butterfly valves that are a lightweight and cheaper alternative to many other types of valve. They deliver easier installation and significant cost savings compared to ball valves, especially at lager sizes.

Butterfly Valves

Actuated Valves

Automation in the process industry is increasingly commonplace these days. Actuators provide the ability for valves to operate at the push of a button. The reason for this requirement could be the remote location of a valve, its size, for synchronisation of multiple valves or for security to prevent any potential misuse. BM Engineering stock quarter-turn actuators, which suit (but are not limited to) our ball valves & butterfly valves. We have the ability to add control and indication features such as position feedback and Namur solenoid valves.

Globe Valves

Globe valves are used to regulate flow by a moveable plug and stationary seat which separate two internal chambers. The plug can be screwed in to close the valve against the seat. Globe valves are used for applications where throttling or repeated operation is required. They can provide fine control of flow and are the most common type of valve to use for modulating flow.

Gate Valves

Gate valves have many advantages over other styles of valves. They are an economical choice of valve, especially at larger sizes. They can also protect systems from water hammer due to the longer time taken to operate the valve and therefore slower shut-off speed. Gate valves can be used for many different fluid applications and provide a tight shutoff. From brass to cast iron to cast steel, screwed or flanged, BME can provide a gate valve to suit your needs.

Non-Return Valves

BM Engineering Supplies provides a wide range of Non-Return Valves for water, wastewater and pumping applications. A Non-Return Valve (also known as a check valve or one-way valve) works as a valve that normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction.

Knife Gate Valves

BM Engineering Supplies provides a wide range of Knife gate valves, which are so called because of their ability to cut through media that contains solids. Knife gate valves are widely used across many industries that process very thick media, such as in pulp and paper, slurry and mining, water treatment, power generation and many more industrial applications.

Steam Equipment

Clean steam is a valuable commodity in demanding hygienic applications, such as in the food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical industries. BM Engineering Supplies provides a comprehensive range of steam products, including steam control valves, reducing valves, heat exchangers, separators, steam traps and ancillary equipment, such as air eliminators and steam injectors.
